A bit of advice...
Recently Dale Richter, certified SalesLogix trainer and the voice behind our workshops, shared some infomation about setting up record ownership in SalesLogix that I thought I should pass along:
I had a question today from a customer regarding ownership of records.
The customer has a new consultant that needs access to some Account records, but certainly not the majority of the database. They could not figured out how to only grant access to some records, especially since their database had always been open to all users.
I recommended that they create a new team and put all users, except the new consultant, on that team.
After creating the new team they should perform a territory realignment and realign all records to the new team.
They can then create a second team for the consultant by putting all users and the consultant on the team. By doing this any records owned by the second team would be accessible by the consultant and all other users.
The only caveat to this....You would need to change the default owner for users, so that any new records created would be owned by the new team.
This sounds like a lot of work, but using the Territory Realignment Tool will shorten the process.
Moral of the story.....
Don't forget that much of your record security lies in the ownership.
I hope you found this helpful!
