  • Function Not Working Properly; Error While Attaching a Remote DB

Good Questions of the Day, Thursday, August 20, 2009.

This week we've had a couple of good questions posted to Good Answers that I want to point out to the community.

Function Not Working Properly was posted on Wednesday.  The Good Training member wrote a function to clear a checkbox and complete date of a Sales Process step if the activity was cancelled but the function was not working as planned.

Error While Attaching a Remote DB was posted today.  After clicking the attach button in attachremote.exe dialog box he gets an error.  Check out his post if you are interested in seeing the error message and suggested solutions.

  • Good Questions of the Week

    Too many to list!

In the past week we have had quite a few questions come in about a variety of topics and as usual, the fantastic SalesLogix experts offered answers and guidance.  Topics range from syncing SLX and Outlook to email alerts when new leads are received to inducing a button press in script.  These and many more topics can all be found in The SalesLogix User Group forum.  If you have questions, or have information to share, don't hesitate to create a post!

  • SalesLogix Table Association

Good Question of the Day, Thursday June 25, 2009.

It's Thursday and that means 1 day left of the work week! Big Smile

This week we had a question come in regarding table association, specifically if it is possible to change a table association without deleting the table.  So what do you think - possible or not?  Read the question and find out what was discovered here...

  • American Date Format; Using SLX to Track Donors

Good Questions of the Day, Wednesday June 3, 2009.

Today we had 2 great questions come in that I think are worth mentioning:

One user is seeing the American date setting when it should be set for the U.K.  A Good Training sponsor/SalesLogix expert helped perform troubleshooting for this issue.  Some of the tips that he shares may be helpful to you if you experience a similar problem.  You can view the entire discussion here...

We had another user that is reaching out to non-profits that use SalesLogix.  This user is looking for advice on tracking donors, pledges, payments, etc.  Please take a look at this question and provide some feedback, especially if you are working for a non-profit.  View the question here...

  • Opportunity - Sales Processes

Good Question of the Day, Thursday May 7, 2009.

This week we had a great question come in regarding Sales Processes and how to get users to follow the processes in place.  I think this topic is something many companies struggle with and I am glad it was posted.  While SalesLogix can't make a user complete a sales process in an appropriate manner there are ways to monitor user activity.  Read the question and answer here...

  • Conditional Import

Good Question of the Day, Tuesday April 28, 2009.

Importing Leads and Contacts is an important function of SalesLogix and one which many companies use in a variety of ways.  Some companies import a couple Leads or Contacts a month, others import hundreds.  Occasionally a company needs to import Leads or Accounts in a way that is different then what is offered in SalesLogix out-of-the-box.  Case in point: one of our members was wondering about the ability to import based on conditions.  If you are interested you can read the question and answer to, "Conditional Import".

  • Opportunities - Keeping Stats Accurate; User Access Settings

Good Questions of the Day, Thursday March 19, 2009.

This week a couple of members posted some good questions that I think you should review, you never know when you have information that you may be able to share or when you might have the same question as a fellow member.

The first question is about Opportunities and keeping accurate stats.  I think the question is a good one and you can get the details here...

We also received a question regarding restricting user settings so that a particular user can only access certain account entities within SalesLogix.  View the full question and answer here...

  • Read Only Access, Controlling Visibility, and SalesLogix v7.5 on Server 2008 and SQL 2008

Good Questions of the Day, Tuesday, March 3, 2009.

In the past week we've had some wonderful questions come in that I think are worth mentioning...

One member was wondering about granting teams Read Only access.  Is it possible?  Where do you access this?  Read the question and if you have something to add, don't be shy!

We also had a member that was curious about controlling visibility in the SalesLogix Opportunity Detail view.  The fact that they don't use teams at this company was making this difficult to accomplish.  Check out the question and answers, this information could be useful in the future.

If you are on SalesLogix v7.5, or may be moving there, have you wondered if there would be any benefits or issues with using Microsoft 2008 Server products?  Some great information was shared in this post, don't miss out.

  • Customizing The SalesLogix Dashboard

Good Question of the Day, Tuesday, February 17, 2009.

At the end of last week we received a question through the Good Training site contact regarding the customization of the SalesLogix Dashboard.  The question specifically addressed customizing the Dashboard to include more than the top 5 sales in the Sales Pipeline.  The answer to this question may be helpful to some of you and I thought I should bring it to the attention of Good Training members and guests.  You can read the post here...

  • SalesLogix Teams and Issues Accessing SalesLogix

Good Questions of the Day, Thursday January 29, 2009.

It's Thursday, just one more day...Big Smile

At the end of last week and the beginning of this week we had a couple questions come in to The SalesLogix User Group forum that I think you should view.

One member was having a serious issue - users were unable to access SalesLogix.  Now what could have caused this issue?  Read the response to find out!

Another member is from a company that is new to SalesLogix and is on v7.5 Web.  They would like to set up their SalesLogix Teams with Read Only or Ready/Write access depending on the team, but they are experiencing issues.  Please look at this question, read the feedback given so far, and see if you have any information that may be of help.

  • Contact Wizard, v7.5 Web Access

Good Questions of the Day, Wednesday, January 21, 2009.

We have reached midweek and I thought today we could look at a couple questions that were posted in the last week...

As many of you know, Good Training holds a workshop every Monday at 2pm CST and we receive some great questions during our workshops.  Last week a member had a question about the Contact Wizard that you may want to view.

Today we had a somewhat complicated question come in regarding v7.5 Web access and changing account ownership.  If you are currently using v7.5 Web you may want to look over the issue this member is experiencing.

  • What's New, SLX Mobile Sync, and More!

Good Questions of the Day, Friday January 9, 2009.

It's my favorite day of the week and I thought we could end it by taking a look at some of the questions that were posted to The SalesLogix User Group forum.

So What's New?  That is exactly what one member was wondering when she posted a question about the information that users should be seeing in the What's New section of SalesLogix.

SalesLogix Mobile Sync Stuff is another topic being discussed in the forums, particularly modifications to pick lists in the Web client and syncing with Blackberry.  It was great to see another member jump in with some information.  I hope more members and maybe some experts will join the conversation and share some of their knowledge.

There are additional topics from this week as well as some unanswered questions, I would love if someone jumped in with ideas/information.

    Have a great weekend!

  • Firefox and SalesLogix v7.5

Service Pack1 will set you free!

As many of you may (or may not) know, Sage officially supports IE for use with v7.5 Web, that is it.  Things will change with the coming of SP1.  Those of you who prefer Firefox, and there are many, will now be able experience the benefits of using it with v7.5.  Word is that it is much faster than IE.  This piece of news came out during an exchange on the SalesLogix User Group forum, you can read the whole thing here...

  • SalesLogix v7.2 and v7.5 Web

Good Question of the Day, Monday December 1, 2008.

Happy Monday and welcome back to another work week!

Over the weekend we had a great question come in from a new member about user experiences with v7.2 and v7.5 Web.  I think that this is a great question and a good way for him to get an idea of how others feel about these versions.  We had quite a discussion going between Mike and Adam about this which I think would be worth reading.  If you have anything to add about your experience please jump in and join the conversation.  You can do so here...

  • Mail Merge Configuration; Script Error

Good Questions of The Day, Wednesday November 12, 2008.

In the past week we have had a couple of wonderful questions posted to The SalesLogix User Group forum.  I love seeing participation by members and I especially love when Good Training Sponsors and Experts are able to offer solutions.

The first question deals with a mail merge configuration issue in SLX v7.2 - the problem being that all of the emails are not sent, only a portion.  The second question is still a work in progress and deals with a script error when trying to email an attachment.  If you have encountered this issue and have found a solution please help this member out!

  • Create a Group Based on Date and Time

Good Question of the Day, Wednesday October 22, 2008.

It's Wednesday and you've made it halfway through week, just a couple more days before relaxation...

We had a question come in on Monday from a new member and I am happy to say we were able to provide an answer right away.  The member was having a problem creating a group of tickets that had not been modified in the last 12 hours.  Great question and answer, check out Create a Group Based on Date and Time.

Last night a question came in regarding the SalesLogix Mobile Architect.  I am working to try and find an answer, I hope that I am successful.

  • Lead Access; Changing Name Fields

Good Questions of the Day, Wednesday October 8, 2008.

We've made it half way through the week and I thought I would share a couple of questions that came in yesterday and today.

If you work in the Leads area of SalesLogix you will want to make sure that all appropriate people have access to view the lead, and in most cases this is not a problem.  Yesterday we had a member post a question about allowing two people access to a lead, if you are interested you can check it out here...

The question that came in today is from a new SalesLogix user asking for advice when changing field names.  There were 2 different takes to the question, and I hope one of them was helpful to our member.  Read the question and answer here...

  • More Contact Process Info, Setting Printer Options in Mail Merge

    Good Question, Good Info.

After the workshop, "Creating a Contact Process for SalesLogix v6.2 and Above", we received a question about adding a ticket to a contact process.  While contact processes can be quite helpful to users they do have limitations.  We had a SalesLogix Site Sponsor jump in and add some information that some may find helpful.  Check out the question and answer here...

We also had a question about setting printer options in mail merge in SLX v7.5 that has not yet been answered.  Check out the question and if you have ideas or an answer please post!

  • Group Building Difficulties

Good Question of the Day, Tuesday September 16, 2008.

I remember the first time I built a group.  I chose all of my conditions, chose my layout, and clicked OK.  Imagine my surprise when the group before me contained nothing.  NOTHING.  I was beyond frustrated.  Building all of those conditions had taken me quite sometime, inexperienced as I was, and to have the final product come back blank...  I declared at that moment that I would never build a group again, leave that to someone else with the skills I obviously did not possess.  That was when our trainer took me by the hand and assured me that one day I too could build groups, then we sat down and he pointed out why my group hadn't worked.

I understand the frustration of building a group and not getting the expected results.  It takes proper training and a thorough knowledge of your SalesLogix database to be an effective and efficient group builder.  Maybe Good Training should hold an advanced group building workshop...I will have to discuss and report back on this.

We had a question come in yesterday by a user experiencing frustration with group building, if you have any suggestions that could be helpful please don't hesitate to post them.  View the question here...

  • SpeedSearch Results and Limiting Mail Merge

Good Questions of the Day, Tuesday September 2, 2008.

Happy Tuesday!  I hope that everyone who was lucky enough to have a 3 day weekend had a great time, I know I did. Big Smile

Late last week we had great questions come in that I thought may be of interest to some of you.  One question is regarding SpeedSearch results displaying odd text and another deals with creating a group so that a mail merge will go to the primary contact only.  Read and enjoy!

  • Crystal Reports, Account Merging Issues, and More!

Good Questions of the Day, Wednesday August 20, 2008.

We are half way through the week and we have had some great questions posted to The SalesLogix User Group forum.  A couple of the questions are new - Crystal Reports Null Values, SalesLogix Sync with Account Merging Issues - while others have had additional information added.  I encourage you to read through the questions and answers as you never know what may prove helpful in your use of SalesLogix.

  • Registry Entries for SalesLogix

Great posting by a Good Training Certified Trainer

Ben White created a post today in The SalesLogix User Group forum that documents some registry entries that he has found useful and it is possible that you will find this information useful as well.  Mike Spragg also jumped in and added some useful registry entries.  If you are interested check out the post Registry Entries for SLX.  Thank you Ben and Mike!

I hope everyone has wonderful weekendBig Smile

  • SalesLogix Teams

    Granting read only access.

Many companies configure SalesLogix to grant read only access to certain individuals, or teams, and today we had a member who was wondering how this can be done.  If you have a need for granting read only access, or may in the future, I encourage you to check out the SalesLogix Teams question.

  • Lead Creation Date

Good Question of the Day, Monday July 14, 2008.

Happy Monday and welcome back to work.  My week is starting off well and I hope the same can be said for all of you!

We had a great question come in today from a member who was wondering about the Lead create date when converting a Lead to a Contact.  By default, when a user converts a Lead to a Contact the create date shows as the date the Lead is converted, not the date the Lead was created.  The member would like the create date to show as the day the Lead was created when the Lead has been converted to a Contact.  Can this be done?  How?  I think this is an excellent question and it may be useful for some of you to review the answer.  Read the Lead Creation Date question.

  • Grouping at the Account Level Based on Contact Level Data

Good Question of the Day, Tuesday July 8, 2008.

We all know that when it comes to creating a group the list of possible conditions can seem endless, and sometimes the condition you are looking for does not seem to exist.  I know this from first hand experience.  I remember trying to create a group where one of the criteria was a custom field, for the life of me I could not find this field.  Luckily, I work with a group of people with thorough knowledge of SalesLogix and, after some frustration, it all worked out.

Today we had a question come in regarding making the LeadSource available at the Account level.  The member had a request from her sales team to have leads from tradeshows grouped at the Account level instead of the Contact level, and she could not find LeadSource as an option at the Account level.  How was she able to solve this problem?  Read the question and answer for Group at Account level based on Contact level data.

  • Great Questions About Running Reports

Good Questions of the Day, Monday July 7, 2008.

Happy Monday!  I had a fantastic 3-day weekend - barbequed with friends, played croquet and frisbee, saw fireworks - and I don't think it could have been any better. Big Smile  I hope all of you had a great weekend as well!

Today we held the workshop "Running Reports for SalesLogix v7.0", and during this workshop we took an in-depth look at reports.  This workshop generated many questions which I promised the attendees that I would post in The SalesLogix User Group forum.  I think that many Good Training members and visitors would benefit from looking over the questions and the answers and I encourage all of you to do so.  All of the report questions have the subject, "SalesLogix Reports".

  • Product Import and Lead Distribution

Good Questions of the Day, Wednesday July 2, 2008.

We've hit mid-week and I'd like to draw your attention to a couple of good questions that we've received recently.

Importing products into SalesLogix is a serious process and it is important that it is executed correctly.  One of our members recently imported products into SalesLogix and now is experiencing problems with products and opportunities.  Exactly what is going on here?  See the product import question and answer.

Having many leads to enter into SalesLogix is nice - more opportunities to generate revenue, possibly commission as well.  SalesLogix out-of-the-box allows you to assign leads to teams or individuals and this does not normally cause issues for companies that receive a small amount of leads on a regular basis.  It can be an issue when you are distributing upwards of 100 leads a day to 20 reps.  This is the exact problem one of our members is facing, read what can be done about this lead distribution question.

  • Opportunity Problem

Good Question of the Day, Monday June 30, 2008.

    Welcome back to work!

Today we had a great question come in from a brand new Good Training member.  It makes me happy when new members jump right in and start asking questions, that is why this site exists!  The issue that he had occurred when he tried to opened an opportunity it would take an eternity to load - not just seconds but minutes.  This issue had been plaguing him for over a year but I believe today it was resolved. Big Smile  Read about his opportunity problem.

  • To Associate or Not to Associate...

That is the Good Question of the Day, June 24, 2008. Big Smile

Hello and how are all of you?  I am well and I hope you all can say the same!  Today we had an interesting question come in that was meant to spark discussion.  The question is regarding whether or not one should associate all activities in the account entity and I think it was great of the Good Training member to put it out there.  Read the question and answers, and if you have any thoughts to share please do!

  • SalesLogix Mobile Questions and Tickets SpeedSearch

Good Questions of the Day, Thursday June 19, 2008.

The week is drawing to a close and if you're like me you are very happy tomorrow is Friday.  I'm not complaining, I've had a very productive week, but my brain is tired and needs a few days to recuperate.  However, my brain is not too tired to share some good questions we have received.

SalesLogix Mobile is a wonderful tool if you find yourself constantly out of the office with a need for SalesLogix but you don't want to carry around a laptop.  If you have been considering SalesLogix Mobile there are details to consider.  One member was curious about customizations and synchronization in the Mobile client.  Are you curious?  Read the SalesLogix Mobile Questions.

If you work in service or support I would bet that you are familiar with Tickets in SalesLogix.  Have you ever wondered if there was functionality to be gained by using the Search button in the Tickets detail tab?  Today a Good Training member posted a question asking exactly this.  I made an attempt to answer the Tickets SpeedSearch question but if anyone else has information to share I encourage you to do so!

  • Checking for Duplicates

Good Question of the Day, June 11, 2008.

How many companies are able to keep SalesLogix duplicate free?  My guess would be not many.  Finding duplicate accounts and contacts when performing a search in SalesLogix is annoying, I know first hand.  Thank goodness there is a way to check for duplicates in SalesLogix and then handle them appropriately (merge, delete, etc.).  This brings me to the good question of the day - checking for duplicates.  Read the question and check out the answers provided.

  • Outlook Calendar Sync, Contact Sync, and Query Builder

Good Questions of the Day, Thursday June 5, 2008.

One day left and then it's the weekend!  It has been a very busy week and I'm looking forward to its end.

This week we've had some good questions come in as well as follow-ups on old questions that I thought I'd point out:

We had a couple of members bring up an issue with calendar options being greyed out and they wanted to know why this is happening.  Ben White stepped in to help out with this Outlook Calendar Sync question and offered possible reasons for the issue.

Another question came in about Synching Contacts to Outlook, particularly from static groups.  Both Adam Travers and Mike Spragg offered some great information and I encourage you to check out this question.

Adam Travers jumped in and gave great instruction for building a specific type of group using the Query Builder.  The instructions Adam gave worked perfectly for the member and I believe the answer to this question could be of use to some of you as well.

Thank you for contributing to Good Training with your questions!  I also want to thank Ben, Adam, and Mike for sharing your knowledge!

  • Removing Inactive Contacts, Activities - Confirmation Tab

Good Questions of the Day, Tuesday May 27, 2008.

I'm back from my 3-day weekend!  During my time off I was able to do some biking, grilling, and socializing with friends and family (no croquet Sad ) - it was a great time.  All of you enjoyed your weekend, whether it was the standard 2 day or for the holiday, and are refreshed for your work week.

Today we had some good questions come into the SalesLogix User Group forum that I thought would be worth pointing out.  A new Good Training member posted a question about removing inactive contacts from an email pop-up list, check out the answer if this question is of interest.

Another question came in regarding issues with the confirmations tab on the activities screen.  Have any of you experience this problem?  If so, please help provide some feedback so our member can work through his problem.

We also had some additional information posted to past questions in the SalesLogix User Group forum that you may want to read.

  • Add/Edit Views, Additional Lead Source Info

Good Questions of the Day, Wednesday May 21, 2008.

We've made it to the middle of the week, hooray!  The beautiful spring weather is calling my name and I can't help but want to be outside all of the time.  Too bad I can't move my office outdoors...

Today we had a great question come in from a new Good Training member regarding adding/editing views, specifically an Add View form.  If this question sounds like something that you may find helpful check out the add/edit views question.  Thanks for your participation linap20!

On Monday, Dale posted answers to questions that were posted during the workshop Campaigns for SalesLogix v6.2 and Above.  Ben saw the lead source question and jumped in with some extra information.  It's great info and I encourage you to take a look.

  • Questions From the Campaigns Workshop

Good Questions of the Day, Monday May 19, 2008.

Welcome back to work!  This weekend I didn't get to ride my bike as much as I had hoped Sad - it was extremely windy which doesn't make for pleasant biking.  I did get to pull out and use my grill for the first time this year, one of my favorite warm weather activities, and it was absolutely fantastic.  I hope that all of you had a pleasant weekend as well.

During today's workshop, Campaigns for SalesLogix v6.2 and Above, we had some great questions come in from the participants.  If you are new to using Campaigns in SalesLogix I encourage you to check out the following questions, the answers may come in handy down the road: Lead Groups, Lead Source, Empulse Service, and Expected Responses

Thank you April and Jen for your great questions!

  • Merge Questions and Deleting Groups

Good Questions of the Day, Monday May 12, 2008.

Happy Monday!  I hope everyone had a nice weekend and found time to relax and kick back.  I did tons of baking this weekend, cookies and a pie, but I did manage to fit in some relaxation as well.  I'm glad I did because I was swamped when I got into the office today.  Enough about me.

We had a few questions come in today, two of which are about merges and another came from the Query Builder workshop we held today.  The first merge question is about merging 1-to-1 fields, the second is about the Merge Wizard.  Thank you Barb for the questions, I'm sure others will benefit from them!Smile  The query builder question pertains to best practices when deleting groups.  Thank you Denise for joining us for today's workshop and for asking a great question.

  • Duplicate Attachments and Displaying Tickets

Good Questions of the Day, Wednesday May 7, 2008.

We are half way through the week and I hope it has been going well for everyone thus far.  Today we had a couple of good questions come into the SalesLogix User Group forum as well as great answers provided by Mike, Ben, and Adam - between the three of them they have many different ways to solve a problem.  Options are nice!  Just in case any of you are wondering about the lack of participation by Dale Richter (he is the man behind the Good Training Workshops), he has been vacationing in sunny Mexico for the last 2 weeks!  Lucky guy, but he should be back on the forums next week.  On to the questions...

The first question that came in today deals with attachments duplicating in the attachments tab.  This question is more on the support side of life, but I encourage you to check out the different answers provided for the duplicate attachments question.

The second question is about displaying tickets, and I must admit I was a bit intrigued with what this user would like to do.  Is your curiosity piqued?  If you answered yes, go and view the displaying tickets question.

  • Finding Contact Information, Sorting, Filtering the Notes/History Tab, and Ticket Function

Good Questions of the Day, Thursday May 1, 2008.

In the past couple of days we've had some wonderful questions come in, some have been short and sweet, others have been extensive and in-depth.  Either way, we have some great people answering these questions - they have so much knowledge that it is almost scary! Wink

There are so many things to learn and so much that you can do in SalesLogix it is only natural that questions come up.  What do we have for today?  Check out a question about finding contact information submitted by one of our new members - she has contact information in an Excel spreadsheet and she wants to know the most efficient way to find the contacts in SalesLogix.  There is also a sorting issue one of members is running into with the date field and the time field.  Another member posted a question that is a variation of a previously asked question - filtering the notes/history tab in the Web client (you will need to scroll down the thread to get to this one).  The ticket function question is a long, on-going discussion - many posts and replies dealing with best practices, functionality, etc. - but it has tons of great information that you may find useful.

A big thanks to everyone who has asked a question/s and the cool guys who are providing the answers!

  • Toolbar Icons, Web Library, Proposals, and More...

Good Questions of the Day, Tuesday April 22, 2008.

Yesterday and today we had many good questions posted on Good Training.  In fact, too many to go into the gory details (well that may be a bit of an exaggeration).  So instead I will give you a run down of the subjects and you can check out any and all that you find interesting.  Questions posted include: toolbars icons, sync issues, the web client, configuring a group, web library, creating a professional proposal, and releasing a template.

A big thanks to all of you who are brave enough to ask questions!  I also want to thank Mike and Ben for being so quick to respond, it is definitely appreciated!

  • Hiding Accounts, Adding New Products Lines and Contact Processes

Good Questions of the Day, Wednesday April 16, 2008.

Recently we've had some great questions come in that I want to point out and I encourage all of you to view.  Why view them?  Well, you never know when a nugget of information you pick up now could have some relevance in your future.

Sometimes there is a need to hide accounts in SalesLogix and that is exactly what one of our users wanted to do, specifically accounts with history older than a certain date.  If you're interested go and check out how to hide accounts.

Adding a new product line can be tricky and it is best to tread carefully when doing this - going about it haphazardly could cause serious havoc in SalesLogix.  The need to add a new product line is what drove a Good Training member to ask how this can be done, and best practices when doing so, from the experts we have monitoring the site.  View the answer to the new product line question.

And now on to the contact processes question - specifically, can you filter the History/Notes tab during a contact process.  This question was asked a while back but a different member wanted clarification of it working in a company specific scenario.  View the complete contact processes question and answer thread.

  • Hiding Reports, Lookups, Template Modification

Good Questions of the Day, Monday April 14, 2008.

It's the beginning of another work week and I hope everyone had a nice weekend.  My weekend was pretty low key - I watched the Minnesota Wild hockey playoffs on Friday night.  The Wild won and I was pretty happy (I'm from Minnesota).  Enough about me.

We are starting this week off right with a round of questions posted in The SalesLogix User Group.  The questions today are specific to 3 different features/functions of SalesLogix.  The first question that came in deals with hiding reports  so that only the necessary reports are available.  The second question involves the use of lookups, specifically searching based on a contact's first name.  The last question we received today involves modifying templates - this is a skill every administrator should possess.

If you have any additional information to add to these questions please don't hesitate to do so.  Have a great week!

  • Territory Realignment or Global Replace Wizard?

Good Question of the Day, Friday April 11, 2008.

Another work week draws to a close and I'm sure many of you are looking forward to relaxing for a couple of days.  Before you begin relaxing I think you should check out a question that came in today regarding territory realignment.  Have you ever wondered why you would use the territory realignment feature instead of the global replace wizard? Ok, maybe you haven't but I'm sure your interest is piqued - there is a reason why you should use territory realignment over global replace in certain situations and I encourage you to learn why.

    Have a great weekend!Cool

  • Converting Quotes, Ticket Info, and More!

Good Questions of the Day, Monday April 7, 2008.

We're starting the week off right with many great questions from a new Good Training member!  The questions we received cover a broad range of topics - converting quotes to PDF, ticket email info, opportunity stages, removing/hiding prospects, and visual analyzer pricing - and are worth checking out.  I hope everyone has had a good Monday. Cool

  • History Dates

Good Question of the Day, Monday March 31, 2008.

The week has just begun and already we have a great question from a Good Training member.  The question that came in today centers around populating history dates and I think it is definitely worth checking out if you have had a problem with this feature.  Thanks for the question Barb!

Sometime this week I am going to attempt to create a new Workshop based on the Query Builder (we've had a couple requests) so keep your eyes peeled.  If you have any Workshop suggestions please don't hesitate to post them, I will try to comply if it seems as though it has broad appeal.

    Have a great week everyone!

  • Merging Records and Automatic Email

Good Questions of the Day, March 27, 2008.

The week is drawing to an end, but that does not mean the great questions and answers stop!

A few days ago we had a question come in regarding merging records.  If you are new to SalesLogix or if you've never had to perform a contact or account merge you should check out this question.  I still remember my first month of using SalesLogix when my boss asked me to merge a few contact and account records - I had learned how to perform a merge during my training but I had forgotten how, and I was much too stubborn to ask for help.  Very frustrating, too bad Good Training wasn't around at that time.  For those of you who would like a more in-depth explanation of merging records check out the On Demand Workshop for Merging Records.

Creating an automatic email for won/lost opportunities is a question that came in today and there are multiple ways this question can be answered.  Read this question and the answers provided and you may just think of some mundane processes that could benefit from automated emails.

Thank you Ben and Mike for taking the time to provide great answers and thanks to the Good Training members who were not afraid to raise their hands and ask questions!  Talk to you all tomorrow.Big Smile

  • Telemarketing Scripts

Good Question of the Day, Monday March 24, 2008.

It's Monday and back to the grind but I hope everyone had a great weekend!  Today we had a Good Training member post a question about telemarketing scripts in SalesLogix - can it be done and what is the best practice for doing so?  Would a telemarketing script be helpful for you and your company?  If your answer is yes, I encourage to take a look at the telemarketing scripts question.

Have a productive week and I'll talk to you all tomorrow!

  • Managing Releases, Visual Studio, Field Level Security

Good Questions of the Day, Friday March 21, 2008.

Friday is upon us again, hooray!  This week at Good Training has been wonderful - many new Good Training members, great Workshop participation, and tons of great questions.  I feel like we are all learning new skills and getting better at using SalesLogix.

And today was another great day (how could it not be?) on The SalesLogix User Group with 3 new questions - Managing Releases in v7.2, Field Level Security, and Use of Visual Studio.  Interested?  I encourage you to go and check these out!

I also want to give a big thank you to our new members for not being afraid to raise their hands and ask a question, and also to Mike Spragg - our newest SalesLogix expert and contributor.  As many of you have seen Mike has a wealth of knowledge that he is quick to share.  Keep the great questions coming!

Have a safe and fun weekend! Cool

  • Sales Processes, Account Merging, Templates

Good Questions of the Day, Thursday March 20, 2008.

Sooo many questions I can't even list all of the topics.  In the past couple of days we have received a flood of new questions and clarifications on older questions.  The content of the questions touch upon many different features and functions of SalesLogix and I believe taking a glance at some of them would be beneficial to many members and visitors - I've even learned a few things!

I am very pleased with the amount and quality of the questions posted to Good Training and the answers provided.  I encourage all of you to learn something new and check out The SalesLogix User Group!
