Restful Web Services - Timeline visualization, Integration

Smooth scrolling

Sage Software is launching a Customer Deep Dive Webcast on September 10th, talk to your BP if you are interested.

If the sync service is stopped, send an email to the specified recipients with a notification that the service is stopped.

Query the event log on each SalesLogix sync server on a daily basis. If at least one error or warning is found, one email will be sent to the specified recipients with a list of errors found and a link to the log file.

Query the SyncErrors.txt file on each SalesLogix sync server. If errors exist in the file, a notification email will be sent to the specified recipients informing them that there are errors in the SyncErrors_yyyymmdd.txt file with a link to the file.

Query FTP directories for error files. Count the number of files in the Infiles\Rejected and FailedTrans folders on the primary and secondary sync servers as well as the FailedTrans on the FTP server. If the count of files in any folders is greater than 0, send and email to the specified recipients with a link to the folder(s) affected.

Produce an HTML report containing information for each remote user and office with files waiting, showing the date of the oldest file waiting and the number of outbound TEFs. Any user who has not synced within seven days will be highlighted in red within the report. This report will be emailed to the specified recipients. An email will also be sent to any users that have not synchronized in over 7 days, informing the user to sync.

Pricing
Pricing is based on the number of sync server licenses:

First sync server - $2,995 list price
Subsequent sync server - $1,995
Maintenance and Support – 25%

Special Incentive
For orders placed between now and September 30, 2008, the first sync server is only $2,495!

Today my company performed a sneak peek of SalesLogix v7.5 with the help of one of my Sage Software contacts. The demo was beautiful and I am getting increasingly excited for the v7.5 release. The demo was geared toward SalesLogix end users and I thought I'd share some of the questions that came up and the answers to those questions:

Have the contact processes (work flow) improved since 6.2.4?
Workflow is completely new in 7.5 and is no longer limited to Contacts only. Workflow can be applied to any entity and across entities.

So a couple of days ago I was building a group with many different criteria, one criteria was Field: Contact.Status, Value: Active. My company has been using SalesLogix since version 1, and over the years and multiple upgrades the way values are specified has changed. Back to my group...

What I came up with as I was building my group were two different active values for Contact.Status: Active and 1. Active. I thought to myself, what a pain. I now need to specify both values, and do so correctly, so that my group ends up correct. I won't lie, this took me more than one try, but finally I got it. At last I have my completed group in front of me. After I had finished I proceeded to complain to my coworker (Dale Richter) about what a pain it was to have two different values signifying an active contact. He said to me "why didn't you use Global Replace"? Good question. I had totally forgotten what a great help this tool can be. With so many features and functions available it is easy to forget all of the options we have to make our life easier. I decided to conduct a Global Replace for these values so that I wouldn't run into this problem with future groups. Here's how:

Create a Group of Contacts with the status: 1. Active (Or whatever your status is. Make sure when you are building your group that you drag-and-drop Status onto the Layout tab so that it shows in the list view of your group).

Once the Group is created choose Tools => Maintenance => Replace Data

Make sure Contact is the radio button chosen, this is a Contact group after all. Click Next.

Choose Replace with specified value

Chose your field from the pick list. In this case Contact.Status

Enter the new value. For this group it will be Active (we are changing all of the 1. Active to Active). Click Finish.

You can now replace your group one-by-one or just replace all. I like to do a couple individuals first so I know it is correct and then I will replace all.

After replacing all your group should be empty. Delete your group. FINISHED!

Last week I received a notice from Sage Software regarding SalesLogix v6.2 - retirement is set for February 2009 and no additional service packs or patches will be released for v6.2, and only minimal support will be available for customers. However, you will still be able to purchase v6.2 add-on licenses.

Let's all have a great week!

Before we end this week I thought I'd mention an award Sage Software won for their Sage CRM Solutions: the Top 15 CRM Award from ISM Inc. ISM Inc. is a CRM and Contact Center strategic advisor firm and they evaluated Sage Software Solutions in 217 categories in the ISM Software Lab. 217 different selection criteria is pretty impressive. Learn more about the Top 15 CRM Award.

As a new user of SalesLogix it is impossible to remember everything that was learned in training. One handy feature that you may have forgotten is that it is possible to email from the Notes/History tab. I like to use this feature when I have an email saved to Notes/History with information that I would like to send to a team member or in response to a customer inquiry. When I first started using SalesLogix I would copy and past the information into an email but using the email button saves time. Here's how you can do this (it's super easy):

Click on your Notes/History tab

Highlight the activity - note, phone call, to-do, email - you would like to email

Click on the Email button located on the Notes/History toolbar

Your email should pop-up with all of the information in the body. Type in the correct subject line if incorrect and specify to whom the email is going.

Click Send SLX and you're fininshed!

You can also copy a Notes/History activity into Word at the click of a button by following the instructions above, but instead of clicking the Email button choose the Word button.

Price for Performance

Manage Your Lead Efficiently

Summary View: Soon you won't have to drill down into the details to see important information, instead you will be able to view a summary.

List Improvements: Improve how you organize and use your data with powerful data filters, the ability to create ad-hoc groups, and the ability to select multiple records at once.

Increased Right-Mouse Button Capabilities: Soon you'll be able to right-click in tab areas and lists.

Multi-Tab Expansion: Customize your workspace and add as many middle panes as you see fit.

Improved Drop and Drag Tabs: What tab did you move and to where? New visual indicators will now show you this information.

Attachment Improvements: Associate attachments to meetings, phone calls, to-dos, emails, notes and personal activities. Captured emails will be opened in an email editor - you will see the email in the original format including HTML links, images, etc. Another thing to look forward to - only one copy of an attachment that is sent to multiple contacts will be stored in SalesLogix allowing you to conserve disk space.

It's Friday and I though I would end the week with a quick tip. It's nothing fancy but it is something that has helped me in the past and I hope that it may help a few of you as well.

If you are working with a group of accounts or contacts it may be help full to use the split view instead of toggling back and forth between the list view and the detail view. The split view will allow you to view your chosen account or contact in the detail view while simultaneously viewing the rest of your group in the list view on the right-hand side of the screen. I like to use the split view when I am performing calling campaigns to my accounts. Here is how you do it:

Chose an account/contact from your group in the list view

Open the account/contact in the detail view

From the toolbar chose View -> Split View or use the short-cut key ctrl+F8

Done! You should now see your chosen account/contact in the detail view and your group along the side in the list view.

If you have questions or need more details let me know. Have a great weekend!
