    SalesLogix mobile questions

    We are looking at purchasing SalesLogix Mobile.  Our SalesLogix system is customized, will our customizations show up in mobile?  Also, do changes in the mobile version automatically sync or is this a manual process?

    Hi Tom,

    Customisations have to be carried out seperately for Mobile, LAN client and web client, so your customisations will need to be done again for mobile. This is due to the limitations of the mobile environment - customisations on the LAN client could be much more complicated than those supported by a mobile environment.

    I can't remember whether you have to sync manually or automatically... I suspect it is like MS Acitive Sync and will sync automatically if you configure it so.

    Customizations do not show up in Mobile.  You have to write all your customizations again.  It's not fun, for the Blackberry you need to have a Java developer on-hand, and for the Windows Mobile, someone with .NET development experience, so I would recommend only supporting one type of device, preferrably the one you have the most in house development experience with, but most companies are running blackberries so you're probably going to want to go that direction.

    You can set up real time push sync, so it pushes the changes both way or manual sync.  If you have it manual, the user on the device has to initiate a sync for their changes to get sent to the server.
