There are no cloning or copying Opportunity capabilities in the out-of-the box SalesLogix, this would be a customization, but could easily be done by your business partner.
I know that is not the answer that you wanted to hear, but the best I can do.
Perhaps someone else has some ideas.
( I would make sure your opportunity defaults are setup, this helps in creating new opportunities)
