    SpeedSearch Results Preview displays odd text

    Hi All,

     

    When searching via SpeedSearch for a Ticket I am receiving strange text in the place where I would expect to see the Ticket's Subject line displayed. For instance, I have a test Ticket who's detail is as follows:

    SUBJECT: SpeedSearch field FindSub

    DESCRIPTION: SpeedSearch field FindDesc

    RESOLUTION: SpeedSearch field FindRes

     
    The Ticket is successfully found when I use the SpeedSearch to find any Ticket containing the term "FindSub." However, the results preview of SpeedSearch shows the following:

    ഊഊ

    Description:
    SpeedSearch field FindDesc
    Resolution:
    SpeedSearch field FindRes
    Comments:
    ( Previous Keyword arrow) Filename ( Next Keyword:arrow)

     

    The strange text "ഊഊ" is displayed where I would expect to see the Ticket's subject listed. Is this action by SpeedSearch normal? If so, where is the listed Ticket's Subject line supposed to show when using the SpeedSearch to search for Tickets? This seems to me to be a problem since users searching for a type of Ticket would need to be able to see the subject line to determine which ticket to review and/or use.

    What version of SalesLogix are you using? 

    Boxes such as these typically are the result of the trying to display an extended ASCII character set or an unknown character set.  When I look, the two boxes are actually characters of ASCII 63 or the "?" character.  The speedsearch result window formats all "Ticket" results with these characters at the start of the result pane. 

    In the 7.2 speedsearch client the subject actually comes after other info about the ticket, including Area and Category, like this:

    Date_Created: 2008_01_03
    Last_Updated: 2008_01_11
    Status: Closed
    Area: Hardware
    Category: Other

    Subject: Error when trying to upload attachment to web portal

    Description:
    A customer had a problem uploading a file...

    Resolution:
    Caused by a File attachment time-out error.  This is an ASP.NET default imposed limit.

    Thanks for sharing, Kris. I am using SalesLogix v. 7.0.1 and the Standard SpeedSearch. The text on the Ticket Table itself populating a cell in the Subject field is strictly as follows:

    SpeedSearch fields FindSub

    Should I be checking the SLX index to see what kind of text is listed there for this Ticket Submission instead of the Tickets Table? Other than an error, I can’t imagine why it would have any unknown characters listed for the Subject field of all Tickets.

    Thank you for describing all of the information found by your SpeedSearch. The only information from a Ticket that I have been able to search has been the Ticket Detail tab fields. Your ability to search through the Area/Category/Issue (ACI) in addition to the Ticket Detail Tab information is a great function! Is this increase in searchable area a feature of SLX 7.2, or are you using the Advanced SpeedSearch?

    Hi!

    This was a known issue with S/Search and was fixed in a later version than the one you are using. Sorry, but it'll take an upgrade to fix that.
