    Changing the name of fields

    Hi

i recently was hired as a marketing coordinator and they purchase saleslogix a few months ago and all they use it for is a glorified address book.  we just uploaded about 9000 accounts and i need help changing the field names for example, I have the sales for 2006 in the field labeled spouse under contact/details.  can some one give me step by step instructions on how to do this.  my IT guy has access to the architect tool, but he hasn’t had the training.  any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    April

    Hi April

This is actually easier than you think! Go into Architect as Admin and go to Tools | Manage Database. The list of tables will appear - find the table/column you wish to change and double-click it - then put in the new display name

Re: Changing the name of fields

I think you are actually talking about the object on the screen.

You would have to open Architect.

    Go to Manage Plugins

Change the Plugin type to Form

Find the Contact Details Form under the Contact Family

Open this form and highlight the Spouse Field and right click....chooose properties.

In the Caption Property....change the caption to whatever you want.

    Save your Form.

But, remember this does not change the field in the database, when you are creating queries, it will still be the spouse field.

If you need assistance, I would contact your Business Partner.

    Thanks

    Dale
