Outlook2CRM button in an Outlook Mail

    Hi there!

on page 3 (step 3 of "Creating and saving Email") of the SLX 7 Courseware .pdf for Email I saw
the Button "Create Ticket" in the Dialog for writing an Email in Outlook

I guess this is the Button from Outlook2CRM. But HOW does the button get there???
I only have the O2CRM buttons in the Main Window of Outlook.

    Email v7

can someone please tell me how to insert the O2CRM Buttons into the "write Email" dialog of Outlook?

    greetings, Marco

Re: Outlook2CRM button in an Outlook Mail

Hi, this button is actually from SalesLogix itself and not Outlook2CRM. It is added when you install SLX for the first time and the DLL is called "slmn.dll" and you will find this in the program files\saleslogix folder. If you de-register this (regsvr32 /u path:file) - the button will go and re-register (regsvr32 path:file) it will come back again !

There is also another one (slxab32.dll) either in windows\system32 or pf\saleslogix - this is the Address Book integration module and enables you to use SLX groups/contacts from within Outlook - press the To: button and, from the drop-down, select the SalesLogix addresss book - voila ! you can now use your SLX Contacts !

    Regards
    Mike

    Thanks Mike,

but I don't mean the "Send SLX" button.
If you have a look at the .pdf that I linked to, you will see the O2CRM Button "Create Ticket"

Ah right, yes, I see (both) now. The button will be added by Outlook2CRM as a menu/ribbon extension I guess - Ryan/CustomerFX should be able to help here. I think they also have a course/extension for Outlook that does this.

Re: Outlook2CRM button in an Outlook Mail

    Hello Marco,

The screenshot in that documentation shows an older, pre-Outlook2CRM, product called the Outlook Ticket Addin. The Outlook2CRM product evoloved from that older product. One of the mail differences in Outlook2CRM was that the buttons were dynamically created at runtime based on what the administrator defines in the Toolbar Editor. The Outlook2CRM toolbar can be customized and new buttons added to it. Because of this dynamic loading and Outlook's inability to maintain the state of the toolbar, the toolbar was getting created *every time* the E-mail window in Outlook opened causing a huge performace loss. Because of this the Outlook2CRM toollbar dropped support for having the buttons appear in the E-mail window, as shown in the screenshots you mention, to avoid this performance hit.

This feature *will* be coming back in a later Outlook2CRM release (actual version not yet determined).

    Hope this helps.
