    Modifying group members

    Hi,

I recently created a group based on these conditions:

    Account.Status equal to Active

    Account.Type equal to Customer

and a value that contains a product we sell

I created the group for a marketing activity I’m going to do.  I do not want to market to some of the accounts that have displayed in this group.  My question is: how do I remove these accounts?  I have right clicked on the account but “Remove Selected Members From Current Group” is grayed out.

I'm sure it's something obvious that i'm just not getting - TIA for any help.

    Amy

PS.  Thanks for the great resource.  This site is really cool!

    Re: Modifying group members

    Good Morning Amy,

It's been awhile since I have heard from you. I hope things are going well.

The group you are trying to create is a dynamic group. You are NOT able to remove contacts from a dynamic group.

    However, with that being said.

    You CAN.....

Highlight everyone in the group (highlight the first one, hold down the shift key and hightlight the last one)

Once they are highlighted, right click in the blue area and choose "Add selected members to a new group"

The Query Builder window will come up.

Name the Group and click on OK.

You have now built an AD-HOC group of the same contacts. You can highlight any individual and right click and remove that person from the group. You can also access this new group from your Mail Merge.

    I hope this helps.

    Have a great weekend!!

    Dale

    Re: Modifying group members

Aside from creating an ad-hoc group, you could see what the accounts you want to remove have in common and exclude them (right click and select NOT for the condition once its in) based on that condition - assuming there is one. That way you keep your dynamic group which should be up-to-date next time you want to perform the same marketing activity.
