    Change user type from Network to Web Only

    Can you tell me if licenses are purchased specifically as Network or Web Only?  We support both methods, and have available Network licenses but no Web Only licenses.  Can these be converted or do we need to purchase additional licenses?

    Hi Dalyl,

    In response to your question:

    There are several versions of SalesLogix User Licenses:

     

    Named Users: Unit cost ranges from $795 - $1,095, depending on if you are at the Standard, Advanced or Premier Level (volume discounts applicable to 51+ users).

     

    Concurrent User: Unit cost is $1,995 (no volume discounts).

     

    Web Viewer User (read only): Unit cost is $95 (no volume discounts).

     

    Named Users and Web Viewer Users are not interchangeable.  When accessing SalesLogix with a Web Viewer license, no updates can be made to the database.

     

    It is best to contact your Sage Business Partner to discuss your exact needs, as we may be misinterpreting your inquiry.  For example - do you really want Web View only, or are you referring to a Remote User who has the ability to make changes and sync them in to the main database?

     

    If you are not currently working with a Business Partner, we will be happy to assist further.  If you are not sure whether your company is currently working with a Business Partner, you can forward your company name to us (via the Good Training Contact page) and we will contact Sage on your behalf to verify that information.

    Hi Dalyl,

    After reading your question again, I came up with another possible answer but it depends on what version and edition of SalesLogix you are on.

    If you are on SalesLogix v7.2 Premier or Advanced edition all licenses have access to both the Windows and Web client.  There would be no need to purchase additional licenses or convert licenses because they can be used to access SalesLogix both ways.

    However, if you are on a lower version of SalesLogix or if you are on SalesLogix v7.2 Standard edition you do not have access to the web client.  You would need to upgrade to have access to the web edition.

    Please let me know if you need further clarification, for some reason licensing is always confusing! Sad

    All SalesLogix named Network user licenses are dual access so they are able to access SalesLogix through the web client.  There are Web access only licenses available at a lower cost.  Your Network user licenses will work for web access without needing to convert anything.
